PAC 6: Radiation Measurements and Dosimetry

Program Area Committee (PAC) 6 is responsible for oversight of activities related to radiation measurements and dosimetry. Functioning within the scope of PAC 6 are five report-writing committees: SC 6-2 on Radiation Exposure of the U.S. Population, SC 6-3 on Uncertainties in Internal Radiation Dosimetry, SC 6-4 on Fundamental Practices and Principles of Dose Reconstruction, SC 6-6 on Skin Doses from Dermal Contamination, and SC 6-7 on Evaluation of Inhalation Doses in Scenarios Involving Resuspension by Nuclear Detonations at the Nevada Test Site.

Currently authorized but unfunded activities within this program area are:

  • aerosol measurements
  • assessment of measurement methodologies for environmental indicators of past releases (joint with PAC 5)
  • biological dosimetry
  • evaluation of ultrasensitive measurement techniques
  • guidance on measurements for quality assurance and verification for conformal radiation therapy
  • update of NCRP Report No. 58 "Handbook of Radioactivity Measurements"
The membership of PAC 6 is:
