SC 6-1:  Uncertainties in the Measurement and Dosimetry of External Radiation Sources

The Committee is focusing on the sources of uncertainty associated with measurements of external radiation exposure as well as the uncertainty in relating the measured quantities to absorbed dose in various body organs. The Committee held meetings at NCRP in August and September 2004 and in February 2005 in conjunction with the Health Physics Society Meeting in New Orleans. The three meetings have resulted in a detailed outline of the draft report. Uncertainties will be addressed for measurements and the consequent uncertainties in the conversion of measurement quantities to organ effective doses. All five sections of the draft report have been reviewed in detail and assignments and responsibilities for completing each section have been made. The revised draft report was sent to PAC 6 for critical review, and submitted to Council for review during the second quarter of 2007. The final revision of the report has been approved for publication and will be issued as NCRP Report No. 158.
