Kenneth R. Kase

 

Kenneth R. Kase
Senior Vice President
& Director

Kenneth Kase received his B.S. in physics from Georgia Institute of Technology; his M.S. in bioradiology from the University of California, Berkeley under an AEC Fellowship in Health Physics; and his Ph.D. in biophysics from Stanford University. He was a health physicist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (1963 to 1969) and Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (1969 to 1973). After obtaining his Ph.D. he took a position in medical physics and was Assistant Professor (1975 to 1981) and Associate Professor (1981 to 1985) of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School. From 1985 to 1992 he was Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He returned to Stanford Linear Accelerator Center as head of the Radiation Physics Department (1992 to 1995) and Associate Director and Head of the Environment, Safety and Health Division (1995 to 2001). Currently he is associated with Lyncean Technologies, Inc. in Palo Alto, California. His special areas of interest and research are in accelerator health physics, medical physics, and radiation dosimetry. He is a member of several scientific and professional organizations, including a Fellow of the Health Physics Society (President, 2003 to 2004), a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, and a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. He has authored or coauthored numerous journal articles and book chapters, is the coauthor of one book, and senior editor of a three volume series on radiation dosimetry. He was elected to NCRP in 1987 and to the office of Senior Vice President in 2002. Dr. Kase and his wife Grady reside in Palo Alto, California. They have two daughters and six grandchildren.
