Paul Locke, an environmental health scientist and attorney, is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, Division of Toxicology. He holds an MPH from Yale University School of Medicine and a DrPH from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is also a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law and is licensed to practice before the bars of the states of New York and New Jersey, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Dr. Locke’s research and practice target the intersection of environmental health sciences, policy and law in the areas of radiation risk and toxicity testing. His areas of study include radon risk science and policy, radiation risk analysis, high level radioactive waste disposal, and alternatives to animals in biomedical testing and toxicology. He is the author and co-author of several book chapters and numerous papers, and has published in policy and scientific journals as well as law reviews. Dr. Locke serves on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences’ Radiation and Nuclear Studies Board and has participated in three National Research Council study committees, two of which examined the disposal of high-level radioactive tank waste at DOE legacy sites. He is a Board member of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements and is a member of the editorial board of Risk Analysis: An International Journal.
